Air India Partners with Avis India to Enhance Premium Ground Mobility for Passengers
  • PublishedSeptember 9, 2025

Air India has announced a strategic partnership with Avis India to provide premium ground transportation solutions for its passengers, extending the airline’s service experience beyond air travel. Under the arrangement, travelers will have access to chauffeur-driven vehicles at discounted rates—up to 20% off—across 17 Indian cities, ensuring seamless connectivity between air and ground journeys.

Service Features and Fleet Options

Through this collaboration, Avis India offers a wide selection of vehicles, from luxury sedans to SUVs, designed to cater to airport transfers, intra-city commutes, and intercity travel. Each vehicle is fully insured and equipped with the necessary permits, operated by professionally trained chauffeurs, and supported by 24/7 contact center assistance for added reliability.

Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer at Air India, positioned the partnership within the airline’s broader service strategy:
“This partnership with Avis India underscores our commitment to delivering premium travel experiences at every stage of the journey. With Avis India, our guests can enjoy safe, comfortable, and high-quality ground transportation that perfectly complements Air India’s service standards both in the air and on the ground.”

Booking Process and Access

Air India passengers can book services through a dedicated platform, using the promotional code AIAVIS to avail exclusive discounts. The initiative reflects Air India’s vision of creating an integrated travel experience that extends well beyond the flight itself.

Aman Naagar, Managing Director of Avis India, emphasized:
“Avis India has consistently provided world-class mobility solutions to its customers. By partnering with Air India, we are extending this promise to a wider audience, ensuring their journeys remain comfortable, reliable, and stress-free from start to finish.”

Air India’s Transformation Context

The announcement comes as part of Vihaan.AI, Air India’s five-year transformation roadmap launched in 2022 following its return to Tata Sons’ ownership after seven decades under government control. A key pillar of the strategy is fleet expansion, highlighted by the historic 2023 order of 470 new aircraft.

Recent milestones include the 2024 merger of AirAsia India with Air India Express and Vistara with Air India, as well as the opening of South Asia’s largest aviation training academy. Looking ahead, the airline plans to launch a flying school in 2025 and a greenfield maintenance base in 2026, reinforcing its long-term growth agenda.

Air India currently operates over 300 aircraft, serving 55 domestic and 48 international destinations across five continents, with a workforce of more than 30,000 employees. The airline group today comprises full-service carrier Air India and its low-cost regional counterpart, Air India Express.

Avis India’s Market Position

Avis India operates as a joint venture between Avis Budget Group and The Oberoi Group, positioning itself as a comprehensive provider of premium mobility solutions in the Indian market. Originally launched two decades ago to serve Oberoi hotel guests across 12 cities, Avis India has since expanded into broader B2B and B2C segments, establishing a reputation for reliability and service excellence.

The company’s current operations are anchored in its Mobility 360° framework, which spans short-term rentals, long-term leasing, and corporate fleet management. With more than 900 corporate partnerships, Avis India positions itself as the only global mobility brand in India offering a complete suite of solutions.

Strategic Implications

The collaboration highlights an emerging industry trend: airlines extending their services beyond core flight operations to deliver integrated, end-to-end experiences for premium travelers.

For Air India, the partnership enhances its positioning as a full-service carrier amid its ongoing transformation. For Avis India, it provides access to a substantial customer base through airline passenger traffic. The arrangement could also influence how other carriers structure mobility partnerships as India’s aviation sector expands and competition intensifies among both domestic and international airlines.
