JetBlue Flight Veers Off Runway at Boston Logan Airport into Grass

A JetBlue flight arriving from Chicago had a tense moment at Boston’s Logan International Airport when it veered off the runway and came to a stop in the grass. Fortunately, no passengers were injured.

“JetBlue flight 312 from Chicago to Boston veered off the runway and onto the grass after landing,” the airline said in a statement. “We will conduct a thorough investigation and cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities to determine the cause of the incident.”

Meanwhile, crews conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft, and passengers were transported to the terminal by bus, according to Samantha Decker of the Massachusetts Port Authority in an email statement.

No injuries were reported among passengers, as noted in an AP report, and the FAA has launched an investigation into the incident. According to an Associated Press journalist at the scene, passengers were seen disembarking the plane via stairs provided by emergency vehicles, surrounded by numerous emergency responders.

“No further details have been released regarding what caused the aircraft to veer off the runway. Thursday’s incident occurred shortly after FAA officials admitted they need to do more to ensure air safety,” the AP report stated. “Recent polling by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research also indicates a decline in public confidence, with fewer Americans feeling safe about flying this year.”

This event follows closely on the heels of another aviation accident in India, where an Air India flight bound for London crashed in Ahmedabad shortly after takeoff. The aircraft was carrying 242 individuals, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members. Among the casualties was a former chief minister of Gujarat, who has been confirmed dead. The Tata Group, which owns Air India, has announced compensation for the victims’ families and is arranging relief flights to Ahmedabad for the next of kin of both passengers and crew.
