Air India Flights cancelled due to Maintenance and Bad weather
  • PublishedJune 20, 2025

Air India has announced the cancellation of several scheduled services across its network, attributing the disruption to mandatory maintenance checks, adverse weather conditions and ongoing airspace restrictions. The affected flights span both domestic and international routes, underscoring the operational challenges the carrier faces in the aftermath of enhanced safety inspections.

Among the domestic services withdrawn from the timetable are key connections such as Pune–Delhi and Ahmedabad–Delhi. Internationally, passengers booked on sectors including Dubai–Chennai, Delhi–Melbourne and Melbourne–Delhi have also been impacted. In total, at least seven to eight flights were removed from service on June 20, with the revised schedule expected to remain in place until mid‑July.

These cancellations follow a series of rigorous post‑crash inspections mandated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) after the June 12 accident involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. While no significant safety deficiencies have been identified in the Dreamliner fleet, Air India has opted to conduct precautionary maintenance beyond regulatory requirements, a move aimed at restoring passenger confidence.

Air India has expressed regret for the inconvenience and is proactively reaching out to affected travellers. The airline is offering full refunds, hotel accommodation where necessary, and complimentary re‑booking on alternate flights. Customers are urged to check the status of their reservations via Air India’s official website or contact the airline’s helpdesk for personalized assistance.
