Automated Traffic Fine System: Rs 10,000 Penalty for All Vehicles, Old or New, at Petrol Pumps

Traffic regulations are being augmented with the development of a new system poised to automatically levy fines on vehicles lacking a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate.

To enhance global adherence to traffic laws and regulations, stringent fines or vehicle seizure are imposed on violators. However, despite enforcement efforts, some drivers intentionally flout the law, leading to frequent fines. To tackle this issue, a new system is being developed to automatically impose fines at petrol pumps on vehicles lacking a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate.

Punishment Upto Rs 10,000

  • Violation of pollution regulations may result in a penalty of up to Rs 10,000.
  • The fine for driving without a valid pollution certificate is set at Rs 10,000.
  • Despite the certificate’s importance, many drivers overlook its renewal.
  • Henceforth, vehicles lacking a valid certificate will be ineligible for registration.

Beware At Petrol Pumps

  • Sophisticated cameras will monitor the registration numbers of vehicles.
  • Both gasoline and diesel vehicles will be subject to scrutiny at gas stations under the new system.
  • The system will verify the pollution certificate of each vehicle.
  • If a vehicle’s pollution certificate has expired, the system will automatically issue a fine to the driver’s phone.

Time To Renew For Drivers

  • Drivers will receive reminders to renew their certificates by the following day or evening.
  • A window of opportunity will be provided for drivers to update their pollution certifications for a limited period.
  • Failure to renew the certificate on time will result in a Rs 10,000 fine directly sent to the driver’s phone.

The implementation of an automated system with a warning period before imposing fines promotes adherence to pollution regulations. This proactive approach fosters cleaner vehicles and safer roads through continuous monitoring.
