According to Denver Gazette media partner 9News, Denver’s airport is facing extensive delays with hundreds of flights and prolonged security wait times at TSA checkpoints on Monday morning.

Flight delays:

As of 9:30 a.m. on Monday, there have been 338 reported delays in both arrivals and departures at Denver International Airport, according to FlightAware.

The majority of these delays are attributed to Southwest Airlines flights, with United Airlines following closely behind.

According to an airport spokesperson, flight delays are attributed to strong winds. Monday’s forecast predicts winds between 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph.

The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Red Flag Warning for much of eastern Colorado, encompassing the Denver metro area, due to anticipated wind and low relative humidity from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.

Security wait times at TSA:

Monday morning saw Denver International Airport (DIA) contending with extensive TSA security lines. As of 9 a.m. on Monday, standard screening wait times at West Security exceeded 40 minutes, while TSA PreCheck wait times were over 20 minutes.

According to TSA, there was a remarkably high volume of travelers departing from Denver on Monday morning. TSA projected approximately 37,000 passengers to undergo screening between 5 a.m. and noon, which surpasses more than half of the typical daily total.

As of 9 a.m. on Monday, Bridge Security and South Security also experienced wait times exceeding 15 minutes. For the most up-to-date security wait times, visitors can check FlyDenver.com.

DIA officials advise passengers to arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to their scheduled boarding time. Additionally, passengers are encouraged to confirm the status of their flight with their airline and complete online check-in if available.

For further assistance, passengers can contact the airport’s customer service team at 720-730-4359 or by texting 720-902-9351. Denver airport travelers can also utilize the chat service available daily between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m.
